Yii
Kah Hoe graduated from the Malaysian Institute of Arts, obtaining
a Diploma in Fine Arts in 1991. In 1994 he went to China to
further his studies majoring in musicology under Professor Yi-Feng
Luo. He obtained a Bachelor Degree of Music from Xian Conservatory
of Music in 1997. He also majored in Chinese flute (dizi) performance
under the tutelage of Yong-Zhi Sun (China).
Apart from dizi performance and theoretical studies, Yii is
also an active composer. He studied composing under Professor
Zhou-Xi Qian and Professor Yu-Yan Rao. Yii was awarded 3rd prize
at the International Composition for Chinese Orchestra organized
by Singapore Chinese Orchestra in 24th November 2006. Yii was
also finalist at theTaiwan International Composition for Chinese
Orchestra in 2005 and winner of the MPO Forum for Malaysian
Composers 2 in 2007.
